7 cards with text, ribbon, 1 clear pouch containing ash remnants of original, 1 found feather

Born in Rome, Italy and educated in Canada, England and France, Laura Calvi received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (now NSCAD University) in 1995 and a Master of Fine Arts in Visual Arts from Toronto's York University in 2004. A writer and interdisciplinary artist with areas of interest encompassing site-responsive installation and public art, performance, sound and language based work, her works have been presented in group and solo exhibitions in Halifax, Istanbul, Barcelona, Toronto and the US. She has also participated in residencies in Istanbul and at Alberta's Banff Centre for the Arts.

Winding its way through spaces between articulation and silence, the work has tended toward creating environments or situations for the viewer in which various attempts at negotiating a communication or proximity to an expression of verity might collapse an expected response.
